Esther, as I've said before, is my favorite book of the Bible. I love a great story about a brave woman who single-handedly saves a bunch of people.
I've loved the book of Esther since I was a little girl. In fact, it was even my favorite VeggieTales movie! My brother and I had all of the DVDs when we were kids, and I loved to watch Esther; it was funny, it was inspiring, I laughed, I cried...so I was kind of excited to get to it now.
I wonder what the King actually wanted Vashti to do. He says that he wants to show them "her beauty." Does that mean he wants her to get naked for everyone? The ancient version of Hooters? In the VeggieTales video, the king throws the queen out because she won't make him a sandwich. Just thought I'd throw that in there...
Another question I had is why Esther must touch the top of the King's sceptre every time she comes into contact with him. Is that some kind of phallic symbol?
I was always inspired by Esther's bravery. She could have been killed just for seeing the King unannounced, not to mention accusing his right-hand man of plotting murder.
Also, why did the King sign the order to kill the Jews when he never wanted to? Did Haman trick him or did he just not read it?
Greatest irony ever: Haman is hanged on the gallows he built to hang Mordecai on. That didn't happen in VeggieTales...
